I should note, ano, that it wasn’t Mitch’s “official” shot. He’s still in training and clearly has a lot to learn about technique before he is anointed a true Barista.

But yes, it was a latte, which goes to show either:

A) Mitch can’t take directions well.
B) the process of making a latte is a bit more cinematic than just pulling a single shot.
C) the director wasn’t paying attention to the script. (Typical Hollywood!)

Or all of the above.

Honestly, the “shot” was a latte. It was also horribly executed. Good coffee isn’t that hard to find in Portland, and it would probably make sense to to more field research before filming.

This is awesome. Living in Portland it really does capture the feel. You do need a coffee shop set though, the house isn’t pulling the feel enough for me.

An actual coffee shop would have been great, Way Cool. But I recommend checking out the Rocking Frog Cafe (http://rockingfrogcafe.com/) on SE Belmont, and Acme Coffee on SE 41st & Hawthorne for examples of houses turned into great coffee shops. In a lot of ways I think I prefer them to the “real” ones.

Guy, I would love to bring Tom back for Season 2, but I’ll have to do some finagling to get Tavis Sarmento up from L.A. As for his own series — maybe “Crazy Tom, P.I.”? (The client, the case, and the culprit can all be figments of his paranoid imagination.)

I’ll try to talk Tavis into producing his own show…
